Guião's expected expansion was accompanied by a physical move of their offices.
One requirement was to create a network that was scalable and adaptable for future requirements, because the enterprise could expand its business to new products or could change the existing ones. One of the most important details considered, was the detailing of network security. Internal firewalls were configured in order to secure the access to the employee's machines and the internal servers, and External Firewalls to control access to HTTP, E-Mail and DNS Servers of the enterprise. The Unix system was the best operating system for these firewall solutions.
The network's scalability was guaranteed by the installation of one switched backbone in optic fibre with a Gigabit capacity and VLAN's to control traffic, which allowed for a substantial increase in the number of users without impacting server performance.
Cables were installed in a structured form so as to allow a better control of network access points and to enable a rapid and simple change in their utility.
At the end of the strategic planning phase, our professionals initiated the installation and configuration of the base systems (routers), the implementation of the security system (firewalls), the installation of hubs, the configuration of VLAN's and Web Server management. |
