The Raid concept defines methods to distribute information over a set of discs and may in accordance with the chosen level increase its capacity, to support redundancy, diminish latency, increase writing/reading bandwidth and recover from disc failures.

Fibre Channel is a communication protocol developed to respond to the increasing search for better performance in information transmission. The Fibre Channel goals are: greater band-width, support for flexible topologies, long distances connections, support for multiple transfer speeds, media types, physical connections, and communication between several accesses to channels and network protocols, all made to run over a single physical interface.
